MSFS TURBOJET STATIC PERFORMANCE TOOL
This Excel file tool reproduces the turbojet engine parameter calculation algorithms used in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, based on their state as of October, 2025. The algorithms presented in this tool specifically cover the calculation of steady-state engine parameters, ie: values after the engine has reached equilibrium under given conditions. As such, the tool assumes that the engine is already started, that combustion is stable, and that no damage is present. Note that the simulation of parameter transitions over time during transient engine states is beyond the scope of the tool.
This Excel tool was created specifically to assist in tuning the engines.cfg settings by making the process more visual, and giving faster and more accurate information for achieving the desired engine performance across the full range of flight conditions and engine regimes. When using the tool it should be noted that numerous notes are attached to the different cells to help illustrate the interdependencies between parameters, and guide through its use.
When it comes to the file itself - to prevent accidental corruption of formulas - all cells are protected except those intended for entering tuning parameters or test conditions, however copying values from cells (Ctrl + C) is still possible. You may, at your own risk, remove protection from the various sheets (Review → Unprotect Sheet in Excel) in order to trace how specific parameters are calculated and explore their dependencies. More information is provided as part of the ReadMe included with the tool on the first sheet of the Excel file.
