BALLOON VARIABLES

The tables below indicate the properties for the Simulation Variables that can be used to get and set properties related specifically to hot air balloons. For information on the units listed for each variable, please see here: Simulation Variable Units

NOTE: When Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is running in multiplayer mode, only a small number of variables are communicated between aircraft. Those variables that are available will say so in the description as being either for "All Aircraft" or for "Shared Cockpit".

You can find a complete index of all available SimVars here: SimVar Index

Simulation Variable Description Units Settable
BALLOON GAS DENSITY The density of the gas inside the balloon. slugs per cubic foot
BALLOON GAS TEMPERATURE Temperature of the gas inside a balloon. Rankine
BALLOON VENT OPEN VALUE This represents how open the "parachute valve" of a hot air balloon is, where 0 is fully closed and 1 is fully open. Percent Over 100
BURNER HEATING POWER:name This is the thermal power of the named (or indexed) Burner expressed in BTU per hour. If a value of 0 is given instead of a name (or index) then the sum total of all burners heating power will be returned. Number
BURNER PILOT LIGHT ON:name The named (or indexed) hot air balloon Burner pilot light status, where 0 (FALSE) is off, and 1 (TRUE) is on. Note that of the burner is not recieveing fuel this SimVar will revert to 0 (FALSE), if set to 1 (TRUE). Boolean
BURNER VALVE OPEN VALUE:name This represents how open the the named (or indexed) burner Valve is, where 0 is fully closed and 1 is fully open. Percent Over 100
