The pages below are specific to the additional tools supplied as part of the SDK in the Tools folder and other locations in the SDK. These tools are not all essential for creating add-on content for the simulation, but they offer many additional features that can make things easier or permit more advanced functionality:

 

  • The 3DS Max Plugin - Plugin for 3DS Max that includes tools to help with modelling objects for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

 

  • The Blender Plugin - Plugin for Blender that includes tools to help with modelling objects for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

 

  • BGL Explorer - This tool is used to explore the scenery *.bgl files. The tool itself is found in the bin folder of the SDK tools directory.

 

 

 

  • FS DevMode Launcher - A tool specifically created to provide the developer a faster launch of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The tool itself is found in the bin folder of the SDK tools directory, and you can find the source code in the fsdevmodelauncher folder.

  

  • MSFS Localization Manager - A tool that can be use to generate *.loc files so you can have localized strings within your packages.

 

  • Package Tool - The package tool is a tool specifically created for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 to compile various assets and convert them into add-on packages for distribution to other users. It can be found in the bin folder of the SDK Tools directory.

 

  • SimvarWatcher - A Visual Studio project that can be used to monitor and edit SimVars while the simulation is running. This is not found in the SDK Tools directory, but rather in the following location:
