*.spb FILES
SPB files are "SimPropBinary" files. These files are proprietary to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and are binary files used to hold compiled data from the base XML for a package. Using this format improves the speed at which the simulation will parse the files.
SPB files are not created directly by you, but are instead created as part of Building A Package, and will be present in the output package that you want to upload to the marketplace or third party distribution sites. As such, you can't create your own SPB files, and you should not try to use them or distribute them outside of the package they were created for.
Not all built packages will have SPB files in them, as they are currently only generated from the XML for the following assets:
Note that this format was also used by legacy versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and could be created using a tool provided by the old SDKs and imported into packages before building. This is, however, no longer possible and all SPB files should be auto-generated when building the package, and you should not include your own from legacy products.
